YOU'LL DANCE TO ANYTHING...

2000-07-08

If there's nothing you can do about it, don't worry about it. I kept telling myself this, but I'm a suspicious bastard. I got a phonecall last Friday from my boss asking me how long I'd worked here. Nearly four and a half years, I said. "Wow. That long, huh?" came the response, "...well, that's all I wanted. Thanks." Click.

Alarms went off in my head.

OK, it was for a company-wide email announcing my promotion, and containing some very kind and well-chosen words. I suppose that should assuage my suspicious nature. It doesn't. I'll be just as paranoid the next time.

The Web connection here at work has been really flakey. Does that mean I can get more work done? No! Of course not. Gotta beat my head against this "DNS-not-found" wall for a while.

Work is very busy, though I have had lots of activities with the Boyfriend. I'm feeling a little guilty for having a couple little fits this past weekend of what feels after the fact like selfishness. I think I've just been tired. Strike that; I know I've been tired. That always makes me pissy. And you always hurt the ones you love.

But I just want to sit and play Diablo. Or surf porn sites. I'm totally unmotivated to do anything, even sleep or take care of myself properly. I hate it when I get like that.

But I do like Diablo. I'm actually quite excited that...OK. Let me say this in the style I was trying to supress: "I'm totally stoked that there are a bunch of bitchen games coming out on the Mac soon." (There, I think I've gotten that bit of Californiana out.) But I'm very excited for The Sims and for Diablo II, curious about Baldur's Gate and even Sim Theme Park, which seems a lot like an old game by Leapfrog I used to play called just "Theme Park" -- oh, wait, it is.... And I'll be watching for Myst III next year.

Say it with me now: "Geek!"

There were a lot of things I wanted to write this past week, but I think I'll separate that out as a make-up entry for last weekend. See, I'm only about a week behind. And this is true for all things in my life.

I just washed down two Advil with a slurp of espresso. I'm trying to put my finger on exactly why this is wrong, but I'm not sure. At least it wasn't a sleeping pill.

Ok, on to getting ready for tonight's activity: an A's game. Haven't been to an A's game since I was a kid.
